Weekly Insight: Do it scared

I was nervous.

It was just this morning (I’m writing this on a Friday afternoon),

and I was facing something new for the first time.

Even after 8+ years in startups,

I still get nervous.

But here’s the difference between now and 8 years ago:

I knew I had it.

Something I say a lot: Do it scared.

It’s how I took the leap to start Rootine.

How I became an influencer.

How I started this newsletter.

And now how I’m helping scale an enterprise AI platform for medical spas…

with zero prior experience in B2B tech, AI, or MedSpas.

The same muscle shows up in wellness, too.

It’s what gets you to the gym when you don’t feel like it.

What helps you make the healthy choice when it would be easier not to.

What pushes you to protect your sleep when Netflix is calling.

Here’s the secret:

The most successful people don’t wait to feel ready.

They do new, scary things all the time.

They just collect proof they can handle it.

The fastest way to feel ready?

Stop waiting.

Do it scared.

Then do it again!

In business, in health, in life.

🏆Your Well Challenge

A real-life mini challenge - something simple to try this week!

This week, pick one thing you’ve been putting off because you don’t feel ready and do it scared.

It could be:

  • Signing up for that workout class you’ve been eyeing
  • Cooking a new healthy recipe even if you’re not “a good cook”
  • Saying yes to a networking event even if you feel awkward walking in alone
  • Booking the doctor’s appointment you’ve been avoiding
  • Starting the project you’ve been researching for months

The rules:

  1. Keep it small and achievable in a single step
  2. Acknowledge the nerves (that’s your sign it matters)
  3. Take action within 72 hours

By the end of the week, write down one thing you learned about yourself from doing it scared.

🤍 The Social Edit

What I’ve been sharing on social this week — in case you missed it.

🔥 My Hot Take

My POV on wellness trends, what’s hype, and the business behind it all.

I had a visceral reaction when I heard this recently:

“If you don’t have to work, don’t do it!”

One mom said it to another.

My immediate thought: WTF! that’s terrible advice.

Then I looked inward to figure out why it really bothered me.

But, it’s not what you think.

I don’t think everyone should work outside the home.

I actually love that women (and men) can choose what’s right for them.

It hit me for three other reasons:

→ Sadness, because it was clear she wasn’t doing work she cared about and she was passing that negative energy on to someone else

→ Frustration, because it discouraged another woman from trying something new and building her own wealth, if she wanted to

→ Fear, because it reminded me how important it will be to constantly encourage my daughter to dream big

It also woke me up to something I want to share more about because I care about it so deeply:

Women reaching their full potential.

Whether that’s staying home and being the best mom and partner, leading a company, or creating your own unique path.

Because financial wellbeing is wellness.

Life satisfaction is wellness.

Happiness is wellness.

I worked my a$$ off to build an education and career that gave me choices.

That foundation has let me do countless things in an industry I love (wellness).

From advising and building businesses to helping thousands of women live well, it’s all been possible because I took the leap.

So if you’ve been thinking about starting something, even if you’ve been out of the workforce for years, try it.

Let’s encourage our friends, and especially our kids, to go after what lights them up.

Because you never know, that’s where the magic (and the happiness) often lives.
