🔥 My Hot Take
My POV on wellness trends, what’s hype, and the business behind it all.
I had a visceral reaction when I heard this recently:
“If you don’t have to work, don’t do it!”
One mom said it to another.
My immediate thought: WTF! that’s terrible advice.
Then I looked inward to figure out why it really bothered me.
But, it’s not what you think.
I don’t think everyone should work outside the home.
I actually love that women (and men) can choose what’s right for them.
It hit me for three other reasons:
→ Sadness, because it was clear she wasn’t doing work she cared about and she was passing that negative energy on to someone else
→ Frustration, because it discouraged another woman from trying something new and building her own wealth, if she wanted to
→ Fear, because it reminded me how important it will be to constantly encourage my daughter to dream big
It also woke me up to something I want to share more about because I care about it so deeply:
Women reaching their full potential.
Whether that’s staying home and being the best mom and partner, leading a company, or creating your own unique path.
Because financial wellbeing is wellness.
Life satisfaction is wellness.
Happiness is wellness.
I worked my a$$ off to build an education and career that gave me choices.
That foundation has let me do countless things in an industry I love (wellness).
From advising and building businesses to helping thousands of women live well, it’s all been possible because I took the leap.
So if you’ve been thinking about starting something, even if you’ve been out of the workforce for years, try it.
Let’s encourage our friends, and especially our kids, to go after what lights them up.
Because you never know, that’s where the magic (and the happiness) often lives.
